Saturday shop job working on the tills I found a little button with a key under the counter. Spent an idle 10 minutes pressing the button and turning the key, over and over, until 3 police cars screeched up outside. Not my fault no one had ever told me about the silent alarm.
I made up for it a few months later when I actually foiled an armed robbery of the Ladbrokes over the road. Watched two guys pull on ski masks and pull hammers out of a bag from the first floor break room. Ran downstairs and pushed the button!

A friend was working in the Boots HQ overnight updating a system, they managed to set the alarm off only to find the building surrounded by half the armed police in England, since it also contains (contained?) half the country's stock of morphine, hence a 'special' silent alarm

I did this on a night shift, got bored and 'deepcleaned the till area'. Nobody had told me we even had a panic button, even though we'd been robbed before. Six armoured cars full of heavily armed police took me slightly by surprise.
