It's actually better if we challenge her viewpoint (which is a healthy thing to do) and deepen our conversation on poverty and structural violence, and not stop with conversations but militant action. And you can do this WHILE being proud of her.

maybe what she meant was people in such conditions and the feeling of empathy with a thinking that a person can only do less but see how they can still manage to live with it and smile. and perhaps, to add that theyre resilient despite such conditions.

can we criticize your analysis instead? 🙄 please understand the question first. It's not about poverty as a whole..It's her learning while she was and still is "ACTIVELY" helping people. It's being grateful for what she has been blessed with, therefore learning to be positive..

Many people will avoid tondo even if their life depended on it. Try going there and see if you find a reason to come back let alone do something to help. Obviously, Catriona did. There will always be poverty; it's one thing to look at it and another thing to do something about it
