    Fascinated to learn a) it was a Conservative council that greenlit Britain's first nudist beach b) a pebbly beach was considered a wise location for this.

    Black Rock - a 200-yard pebbly strip in - became Britain's first NUDIST BEACH on 9th August, 1979. Tory councillor John Blackman warned it would become a "flagrant exhibition of mammary glands". 🎧 LISTEN

    Currently in the ‘denial’ stage of grief that this episode of the first podcast I ever listened to, age 14, in 2007, before podcasts were a thing, will be the last. Thanks for sparking my desire to work in media and love of pods 😭

    I’m proud of everything I’m doing on Radio 4, & . But I’m under no illusion that, in my career, AMT is probably going to be ‘the hit’. So for a long time I'd resisted winding up the show. But now I'm just grateful it happened at all.

    I've had some of the happiest times of my life laughing until I cried working on scripts and idents in Helen & Martin’s flat in Crystal Palace, especially collaborating with the talented people who helped us give voice to them. Even if some of the sketches were definitely shit.

    Notably, some listeners evidently used our show to divert their headspace from anxiety, depression, bad health, etc. We never expected our show - which was only ever intended to be a light-hearted diversion from even lesser things - to do this. But we're so DELIGHTED that it did.
