Any app that includes downloadable content that is not backed up should be able to restore itself to its former state after a restore.

@olebegemann@OvercastFM I haven't been brave enough to delete/restore. Does it auto re-download the available episodes that you had before? -
@mjtsai Yes, it does. It even restores the play position of partially played episodes. -
@olebegemann Very interesting. So that would seem to imply that multiple iOS devices always have the same episodes downloaded? -
@mjtsai I think that’s the case. Having per-device state would certainly be possible, but there’s a lot of value in keeping it simple IMO. -
@olebegemann Yeah, I think that makes sense. A good tradeoff. It's just not at all obvious that that's how it works.

@olebegemann It's not clear to me how@OvercastFM really handles that. If an episode falls off the feed/server it can't be redownloaded. -
@mjtsai I believe (but haven’t confirmed) the@OvercastFM server caches episode info for episodes that are not in the feed anymore. -
@olebegemann@OvercastFM But not the .mp3 file, surely. I wish they would document how it's intended to work.

@olebegemann@OvercastFM it didn't for me. Everything was gone after backup restored.
