This editing mishap in @MacleansMag is so earnest, I can't make fun of it. Still: it's a 'ten-gallon hat.'pic.twitter.com/6qdwAis7UD

Then again, describing a hat as a 'ten-gallon hat' is a pretty sure way to tip everyone off that you do not know much about hats.

While we're here: Stetson is a hat manufacturer, not a generic term for a particular style of hat.

I can also provide tips on how to care for your hat!

If you store your hat on the crown (that is, upside down), the brim won't sag/flatten as quickly as it otherwise might.

The 'X's stamped on the inside band are a quality indicator. In felt hats, the number correlates to pelts used in the felt. More is better.

Today's #hatfacts brought to you by many, many years of trying (unsuccessfully) to become a carny.

@KelseyAPye I like the metric system as much as anyone, but leave hats the hell out of this.

@olafragnar In many ways, the hats are the real victims

@olafragnar Having chuckled about it with an office colleague, he points out that given Abel's wit, that is certainly a deliberate joke.

@sproudfoot This is an entirely unanticipated twist.
