Krupskaya, apart from being Lenin's wife, is the author of numerous works on communist education and pedagogy and the history of the Bolshevik party. She was instrumental in the foundation of the Komsomol and the Pioneer movement as well as the Soviet educational system itself.

Krupskaya initiated the opening of many museums in the USSR, including the Belinsky and Lermontov museums in the Penza region and also was fundamental in the development of Soviet librarian-ship. Overall, she became one of the founders of the Soviet system of public education.

Great thread! As a side note, some might find it interesting that some Soviet educational theory is still used today in America. Lev Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development and "scaffolding" are basically (condensing here) how you teach now in the modern era.
