What is criminalizing? If it’s against the law, it criminal. Don’t blame the cop who makes the arrest. Blame the politicians who pass the laws. By reacting to the breaking of laws, police are following the law and their sworn oath.

Cops routinely overlook lawbreaking when it's certain people doing it

Are those your feelings or facts? If facts, I’d love to see the evidence.

A couple graphs with no notation of where the information came from. Even still. The one on the left is a poll. The one on the right is arrest data. Arrest data comes from public contacts. Public contact comes from probable cause. Give a cop cause, and he’ll arrest you.

A ten year old study? And still. It doesn’t mean that whites were let go. Where’s the study that shows whites are getting let go while blacks are being locked up?

Read it again a little more slowly maybe? Black people get arrested at four times the rate of white people. This is not an issue of white people "getting let go"

And there's nothing wrong with a ten year old study on this, criminal justice doesn't change all that quickly. But here's some much more recent resultshttps://www.amny.com/news/people-of-color-made-up-94-of-marijuana-arrests-by-nypd-in-2020-data-and-legal-aid-says/ …

Facts. Crime is higher in black neighborhoods. Therefore more cops are sent to those neighborhoods. More cops equal more contact. More contact equals a higher likelihood of getting caught with a joint.

That's definitely one of the mechanisms that causes the disparity, yes! And it's racist and unfair!
