I'm building some tools to help teams and people be their best and looking for a folks who'd be interested in testing some early prototypes. If you're interested here's a quick form to fill out: Also feel free to DM me with any questions!

ngl, I get a kick out of reading tweets where they abbreviate Kansas City to KC and pretend I’m the topic.

One amazing thing a manager can do for their team is share a vision of who they can become and then work with them on getting there.

A better take: what does a mental health competition look like? It’s a bad idea on many levels, but interesting to think about what’s something we’d be proud to display to demonstrate strength/competence?

Fill in the blank: Bodybuilding:weightlifting::____:mental health or mental fitness? Realize it’s not a perfect analogy, but what could fit?

If your product spec doesn’t answer the question “how is anyone going to know this exists” and “what customers is it for” it’s not a complete spec. Onboarding, adoption, and retention of your new features need to be a central part of product definition and design.

"A big part of Merit is stories. The story of how you got the promotion, or how you knew it was time to leave your job. Or the story of how you found your confidence in a new role — or how you earned the confidence of your team."

the dark corner of the rumsfeld matrix is the unknown knowns corner. it’s a strange one because how would something known be unknown? but here you can find your expert blind spots, insights that need a trigger to activate it, knowledge where you’ve lost the keys to access it

In the middle of dinner my son starts screaming “I need donuts!!!” Which was hilarious for the obvious reasons but also bc my wife and I have no idea where he picked that up.

2️⃣ Pay attention to how team members of lesser perceived status are treated by candidates. Create a safe way for receptionists, EAs, and more junior members of the team to raise a flag 🚩when something feels off to them.

Thinking about how pre-ig, eating was largely an ephemeral experience that persists in memory. Music before the ability to record was too. Interesting to consider how the mediums to preserve changed the consumption experience.

Reading this and thought a lot about Gilt. Built off the excess supply of fashion cos bc of the recession. Looked like a fixed asset bc of sunk production costs and a lot of latency to correct for demand. Didn’t sustain their advantage over time.

"An important tool and skill for a designer is the ability to give and receive feedback and critique. Giving good feedback and valuable critique is hard... Like giving a gift, there’s a spectrum of bad and great feedback"

creativity is underrated in operating roles. Being able to pull solutions that aren’t optimizing what’s in front of you is a creative activity

the tools don't matter but your perception of them does. it's easier to change tools than your psychology, but the latter's a better skill to have.

One way to shift from checkers➡️chess is to realize that rules of the game you’re playing are fungible. Playing with the rules of engagement is just as much of a valid game as playing the one defined by the rules.
