Here you go! How do you recognize a bad translation? Just see if calling it “garbage” feels right

I mean, obviously the first and last one are the same sort of thing, just from different perspectives. Also, if two approaches perform with comparable accuracy, I'd always prefer the less-supervised one.

Today I'm thinking about very not-unsupervised learning, almost-not-at-all supervised learning, and very-supervised learning, and how to make those different approaches comparable.

Least cool thing about my life is how I have a favorite Nightwish song that is 25 minutes long and whose different sections align perfectly with the sections of my daily bike ride to work that is also 25 minutes long, and how happy that makes me

It takes so little effort from them, but it's so validating to experience. I hope all of you have that sort of people in your life.

I calculated three scores for each verb that are supposed to tell me how coercible each one is for a particular use. So now I have three ranked lists, but haven't evaluated them yet. Super excited to get back to work tomorrow and figure it out.

THING 3 is something I did on Friday, but haven't had a chance to look at in detail. Basically, I generated some constructional profiles of entries in VerbNet, similar to the ones defined in the Bonial et al. (2011) paper that inspired me in the first place.

It's never someone with hundreds of followers who does this. It's always someone with like 20 or less followers who has all the opinions in the world and must inform you, a complete stranger, about them
