I mean it's Ross Douthat so it will be particularly stark and bad but yes *even I* have hardwired ideas about women's labour that are not... fair, or good. Even I, the reactionary dad.
i remember the day when i fully realised i’d have to stop taking men in good faith without concrete proof (it was like 2 years ago lol); really fuckin sad.
how do you mean, like they were performing but angling for a prize or something? I have done that through self-doubt or, more positively, wanting to live up to better instincts.
aye or just full scale pretending like they gave half a fuck about what i had to say/me as an actual human person. so many times i’ve been like YAY FRIEND! and then... “oh. not friend. creep.”
I think I know a bit about one of these circumstances. But it's like, there's a lot of potential pratfalls... I feel if you want a relationship being friends is a good basis, but I'm shy enough not to hit on someone without very obvious encouragement.
right! same! so picture that trait wrapped up in just fuckin years of being called ugly by family & lads at school, & you get somebody who didn’t see herself as “Commodity of Sexual Marketplace” in any way and so *always* assumed “mates” meant... well, mates.
by family?! oh Josie that is terrible and really harmful, I know I shouldn't be surprised but I am still.
tbh that’s on the lighter side of things, yay for generational working class/catholic trauma and an abusive culture of capital that breeds more abuse and commodifies everything and everyone!
i like to start and end my tweets with “tbh” because it makes them palindromic
it's a strong look, symmetry is beauty etc
every post, sculpted like a rodin
