Seems hard to be completely anonymous in crypto when onramps/offramps (exchanges) are centralized & points of failure. I bet Venezuelans just want something much better than VEF since they can't easily get USD. Maybe Lightning can ship & test in Venezuela first?!

It'll depend entirely on a block size increase to clear out the mempool before fees are below $5. I wouldn't be surprised if Lightning goes live within a year, certainly, but Lightning at low fees is another question.
