So long as by renewable energy you mean nuclear power. I'm not aware of any "renewable" energy source that doesn't have a terrible EROI and energy density. Any EROI < 22 can't support a modern society. RE is a dumpster fire from a physics perspective, and isn't renewable either.
There are many options (many of course depending on things like geography), but burning softwood pallets that are regrown at the rate they are harvested is imo a pretty attractive option for the short term future. In the long term: solar farms and high-voltage DC transmission.
