maybe ask a math person why division needs to be a thing, when division causes so much pain and suffering in the world, why not just "be fruitful and multiply"... otherwise, one could just throw untested Verilog at the HW problem and assume it works until proven otherwise...

Not sure if that is a better analogy but here we go: "Why do we need proofs, why can't we just come up with theorems and just move forward and innovate?"

From my personal experience now I can advise anyone to not try to get into business with
@darpa. They use "industry experts" to decide if they are going fund innovative research. -

Verification always gets a back seat until there's an error. Then they fix the error and it gets the back seat again. It's not "sexy" to make things correct, it seems.
