To think "It's not a gun problem, it's a bad people problem" means to think that statistically the US has the worst people in the entire world. Apparently the country is a cestpool filled with (mostly white!) mass murderers. And some, I assume, are good people.

Oh, I'm sorry, were you arguing that the fundamental nature and character of mankind is "better" (less-sinful) in Western nations? Are people somehow "better" or "more good" because they are born and raised in a Western nation in your estimation?

No. But obviously it is preferable to compare two data sets that have only minimal differences in their parameters and large differences the property you are interested if you want to understand cause and effect.
