I always wanted to have an ICE40 FPGA badge, but who would do it? We don´t have the capacity to design it or the budget to manufacture it. Would be a huge motivator to attend ;-)pic.twitter.com/1mNT4mmu8d

Would be a perfect fit for the UltraPlus too with its small package and loads of RAM. Static power probably just about low enough too. Maybe if things go well Lattice might sponsor it...
well icebreaker board could be used as a badge :) most conference badges do not have a name on them. Ice breaker with 4 LEDs and 3 buttons can be programmed with simple demo code.
There is the option to have an additional PMOD board connected to the iceBreaker with additional IO (like 8*8 matrix display, button, microphone, ..) and fixated with plastic straps.pic.twitter.com/HF1YgpAico
Right. And 8x8 is enough for even dispalying names scrolling. Additional board can be even hand soldered and produced faster if needed.
The question is: How would you provide the power supply as a nice and cheap and wearable solution :-( @fpga_dave
Probably a small LiPo, 100-200mAh should be fine if well designed. Might want switching reg for 1.2V at least though.
I would look into using the AA aka. 14500 format LiPo cells. The holders are easy to get, rechargable, include battery protection circuitry and are more sturdy in a conference environment than the flat pack batteries. I would include battery charging on board too...
That's a good idea, I would agree with that - unless we wanted to go crazy low power and use something like LIR2450 or even LIR2032.
I made some paper samples of a badge to test handling and button press position, and I like this layout the most (one or two AAA).pic.twitter.com/Rp6VRJwFXU
Maybe as different board with the LED part as break-off section. (Small battery and step-up circuit on the back.)pic.twitter.com/g3UOT0Sm4a
Looks awesome, still wondering whether a tiny OLED or LCD would be better or not though
I agree. I just copied and pasted the display module from the other posts. ;)
