The more I think about Posits (Type-III Unums) the more I'm amazed about how natural the encoding feels. It just "feels right".

Have you seen any HDL implementations yet? VLSI course this spring is looking for an application for the sch/hdl->GDSII flow
I know REX Computing is building a chip with support for posits. But I haven't seen any HDL of course.

But it pretty much is the same circuitry as for IEEE floats just with a posit decoder (and encoder) and without many of the special cases.
