It doesn't matter if you personally do it. The statement was about how the syntax of the language is defined.
Using a coding style that suggests the language syntax is different from what it actually is is inherently a very very bad idea.

I understand that you *wish* the syntax where different. But you don't change how the compiler sees your code by moving that whitespace.

All you do is obscuring what your code does. Design a different lang with different rules if you will. But in C the * isn't part of the type
