:-| Current gen Rigol Scopes waste practically up to 20% of the screen view space, with menus and empty slots. On my 7', barely 5.8 are used

Sounds like you have a DS1000, DS2000 and above allow hiding of menus, freeing that screen space for actual trace data.

You should be able to change the decode format to ASCII in the decode menu.
