I just managed to kill the driver for my network card with an out-of-bounds write in my GPU code!? Security of those GPUs must be awesome..

Yes. But in times of CUDA uniform memory a GPU write is not limited to GPU memory.

I've managed to simply crash my machine with a buggy GPU kernels many times. Sometimes it just kills my desktop but can still login via ssh.

The CUDA part has enlightened me sufficiently (for now!). I can study it more later when I have more time. Thanks for the response :D!
