@oe1cxw So... how'd you figure out that 4k and 8k have the same internal structure (i.e. both use the 8k device switch)?

Of course as soon as you actually look at the bitstreams that iCEcube generates it is pretty obvious that they are the same.

Btw, e.g. Xilinx 7A15T, 7A35T, and 7A50T are also the same device. (LUT count limit on the smaller devices is software-only.)

See also -d options in device table on icestorm website: 4k devices are supported, but it's always "-d 8k". http://www.clifford.at/icestorm/
