Cross-correlation vs phase-correlation vs ??? in 2d and 3d (voxel) space: Opinions anyone?

@tomov_eu Not sure if I understand.. the "data I need" is the 2d/3d translation vector, e.g. the argmax of cross-corr or phase-corr output.
@tomov_eu Another approach might e.g. be to use a feature detector (like one of the 3d variants of SIFT) instead.
