      @cr1901 My first PC was a 2nd hand Schneider 8088. Was not very impressive compared to the Amiga.. I think that was around 1990.

      @oe1cxw 8088's were still useful in 1990, but def were on the low-end IIRC. My favorite CPU is prob the 286 b/c it was so unappreciated XD.

      @cr1901 I started doing serious PC stuff on a 286. The 286 protected mode was ridiculous to use afair.

          @oe1cxw And yes, 286 PMode is weird. The 64kB limit is irritating. Makes it tough to efficiently index large data structures.
