Lol had to leave a FB group because I said straight trans people can feel proud of their sexual orientation and got told it was like saying "white power"

So far all my experiences with trans FB groups have been weird and off-putting and always reminded me of that toxic transfemme IRC channel I've been lurking on in the late 90s..

Yeah I had never even tried to find a group to join but I thought maybe it'd be fun. Not fun! Very much not fun.

Interestingly my bad experiences (both now on FB and with trans groups in the 90s) were bad "in the other direction": A lot of truscum and the attitude that only straight trans women with a very specific dysphoria are valid.

Yeah I'm starting to realize this is likely a generational issue. Older generations lean toward truscum ideals, younger folks backlash hard in the other direction? I suppose I shouldn't be all too surprised

And being a Xennial right in the middle it's clear I still don't fit in with the older gen and still don't fit in with the youngins either hahaha welp!

Very close to home. I do find "the youngins" much much more relatable than most people my age. But I have a hard time mingling with them bc I feel so creepy when trying bc of a mix of internalized agism and transphobia.
