The gov office that can change my gender marker (MA63) told me that under no circumstances I should go there in person but instead should email them all documents and they'll do it remote. I sent everything instantly. Since then they are ignoring all my emails. It's been a month.
I'm so exhausted. I did all the things, jumped through all their stupid hoops, got statements from three different doctors, and now none of it matters, they just ignore me.

Can somebody please explain to me, why there is a "need" to have a gender marker in official/bureaucratic affairs in the first place? Or why names can't be easily changed arbitrarily? For all the "important" stuff (i.e. taxes) unique IDs are used already anyway…
Gender markers are somewhat more annoying (sigh), but over here you can enact a legal name change with a piece of paper, pen and two friends (if you're friendless or scottish, substitute the friends for a notary public or solicitor and approx £10) It can be simple

The Austrian system is less "representation per area" than the US or UK systems, but yes, and they voted against legal protection against anti-LGBT discrimination just the other day.. I should call that MA63 place instead of sending emails as next step. But calls are so hard..
It’s sad and absurd but I solved most of my kafkaesque situations with beaurocracy by calling and having different people look at my case. Also waking up random interrupts works, ask for Akteneinsicht etc. Worst case: prepare for Säumnisbeschwerde at Verwaltungsgericht
Also LGBTQ NGOs/support groups may have free hotlines/counseling, such support groups have seen it all and can point you in the right direction.
