I'm thinking about getting a sewing machine. Any recommendations what I should buy? My budget is under or around 100 EUR.

Meta-level advice in your search: (1) avoid machines with too many plastic parts; stick to metal. (2) Take 3-4 classes with a teacher (who may also recommend machines). (3) Avoid fancy add-ons (unless you really want those fancy stitching), i.e., keep it simple.
Thanks for the advice. A friend has agreed to teach me. 
Let's hope the friendship survives this..
