does this mean you'll be open to using tools that actually have more reliable audio than Zoom? :P

That does seem to be the case. It is written in Javascript so does not need a conventional install. Screensharing in Chrome seems to be via an add-in called Jitsi-Meetings. Not sure how that works in other browsers.
Well, I tried it and it's seems to be using exactly the same mechanism as google meet and that is broken in that it only allows you to share single application windows or the entire desktop (which in my case is three high res screens), but do not allow sharing of a single screen.

Thanks. As those things usually go it will probably end with me patching chromium to allow sharing of a single screen..
