I’m 45 years old and seriously considering HRT!!! Did any of you choose to start HRT at a later age and if so why did you wait so long???

I'm 39 and started HRT three weeks ago. I waited so long because I never understood that my crippling depression is also part of my gender dysphoria, and always figured why bother transitioning if I am going to kill myself within a few years anyway.
I'm mostly depression free now ever since I transitioned socially three months ago. A lot of anxiety about the future and dysphoria about my body, but no suicidal thoughts anymore. I'm feeling better than ever. It's amazing.
