Current status: At SF Intl Airport trying to find someone at Lufthansa to talk to about leaving for Europe with a departure permit on Saturday. If that doesn't work I will need to drive to LA to get an emergency passport.

This happened to a friend of mine visiting me in SF from Innsbruck. They ended up doing the drive to LA. It was a pretty miserable experience. I’m sorry this happened to you!
