This day is just getting better. Try getting through airport security as a bald trans women wearing a headscarf.. Apparently asking someone to take off a wig wouldn't be okay but asking someone to take of a headscarf is.

Always fun Also love going through a body scanner and having it go at my crotch, and then being treated to a patdown of that area specifically... Luckily most airports around here still have a metal detector queue.

I just realized I still have that knitting project in my handbag, including knitting needles. Apparently that is not a problem. But my headscarf and medicine is.. #SecurityTheater

watch out that they don't get taken off you at another check! ...there are in fact lots of knitter tricks for hiding knitting needles, such as in the makeup bag/pencil case or (for 2's) inside an umbrella's ribs.

Passed through another security check with it. This time nobody cared about my Estrogel, but the headscarf was an issue again. But they were much friendlier and clearly were trained on how to handle trans people. For ex, they asked me if I want a man or woman to pad me down..

I first said "I really don't care" and they replied we don't care either but you have make that choice and I selected patdown by women and indeed it felt much less intrusive. Weird that.. I'd say because of this encounter it actually was a positive experience overall..
