BTW, very satisfied with Friendly Atheist's decision to refer to Linehan as an "atheist transphobe" instead of a "TERF". I generally feel like describing TERFs as "radical feminists" rather than merely secular is actually boosting the exact frame TERFs prefer about themselves

i'm not thrilled with the term either but i use it because it's the most recognizable, and it's important when discussing hate movements to have clearly identifiable terms.

I otoh think we should simply use the generic term for someone who hates women who do not comply to their narrow definition of what women should be like: Misogynists Using a specific term for hate against trans women plays into their narrative that trans women aren't women imo.

If necessary in a context that word can always be qualified with an additional adjective, such as "racist misogynist", or "transphobe misogynist", or "agist misogynist", etc. But at it's core it's always hate against women. At least that's my 2 cents.
