I've spend the last week at a company retreat on the country side. A short thread about three pictures of me from this week.
This is how I arrived on the first day. It's more or less my every day look nowadays. 1/6pic.twitter.com/XKq45elO5g

Even though I did wear very noticeable makeup that day, and a large woman's handbag, and red fingernails, I was immediately misgendered by the receptionist. "Here are your room keys, MISTER Wolf."

That evening I changed into this outfit and just sat in the lobby for an hour and read Butler. (Not expecting anyone here to know who that author is, I was just having fun. :) For the rest of the week I wasn't gendered at all by any of the hotel stuff.

I really enjoyed doing that, and I really like that outfit.
But ultimately this is was about gender signalling as hard as I can, which can be fun, but also is something that can be extremely exhausting if I have to keep it up all the time. 4/6
So it's great if this is something that I can do, and is safe for me to do. But it's not so great if it is something that I feel I have to do 24/7, or risk being misgendered. Because of this that is not my favorite picture of myself from this week. 5/6
This is my favorite picture of myself from this week. No makeup, no wig, 10+ hours since my last shave. Strong "dude in dress" energy. And I'm still Claire. Still she/hers. Surrounded by people who respect that and accept me as who i am. I'm so lucky that I have that.
