What would be a good starter set of picks and practice locks?

Haven't done this on over a decade, but the one recommendation I have is to buy boxes of hundreds of locks off eBay, and never pick the same lock twice in a row. The see-through locks are great for learning handling of the tools, but don't actually practice picking with them.

Our local Habitat for Humanity has a thrift store full of reclaimed building supplies, including lots of doorknobs and I think locks. You might be able to pick up a bunch cheaply at a place like that.
