I love it - a simple resolution of an weird observation. But that’s how science works. Remember the neutrinos that travelled faster than light that was resolved by discovering the wrong length cable being plugged into the timestamping kit?
In all fairness the neutrino paper wasn't like "we discovered that neutrinos are faster than light" but rather "here is an odd observation that we can't explain." They even called it an "anomaly". They certainly didn't win a Nobel prize for their "discovery"..
