Did they give a reason? I would've thought a developing standard extension would be pretty presentation-worthy.

Those rejection notices always sound like: “Bla bla bla... sorry you lost the lottery because of no good reason...” :/

Surely that happened. Looks like appointed reviewers aren't aware of your extension proposal work.
