You know that phenomenon where you need to get a bit of information to function A, but A gets called by B gets called by C gets called by D, so you have to add another argument to each of functions A, B, C and D and thread them all the way through
I like to resolve that by making A, B, C, D methods of a class, often with D as constructor, or by putting A, B, C as nested functions inside of D. But my code is full of instances where I thought "adding one more arg to A, B, C, D is easier than refactoring", several times.
