Years ago I showed my kid why 0.999... = 1, but when the math teacher heard of this, she said my kid was wrong, wrong, wrong, and nothing we said/wrote could convince her otherwise. A good math lesson, and a better lesson in adults / authority figures are fallible.

Wow. Just.. wow. How is this even possible? This really raises the question: What qualifications are needed to become a math teacher?
