I'd argue that if a reviewer knows their field, they can usually make a pretty good guess who authored a blinded paper either way with a little research. A reviewer simply isn't supposed to actively try to uncover the authors identity by doing stuff like searching or arxiv.
Noticing arxiv papers in your field of study is not “actively searching” arxiv.
True. But I don't get the impression from the OP that that's what happened here. But IDK of course. Also, by this argument people shouldn't read any papers in their field, because very often one can infer a papers author just by being familiar with their previous work.
