OP is about visiting the White House and talking to GOP party leaders, not talking to ordinary people. Talk to those who want to listen. Talk to those who seek an honest debate. Ignore those who only want to spread misinformation. Dont legitimize them by including them.

Well, not talking to each other isn't the way to keep the civilization running, I would say. Recommending that to others won't help either. Plus I'd say advice not to do something doesn't get followed a lot... I think we need better strategies, both for OP and the mess here in CZ

If you are running a chess tournament, and there's a player who insists to play by their own "alternative rules", you disqualify them and keep the tournament running. Same here. Exclude the alternative facts crowd, keep the conversation going with everyone else.
