Are we not going semver, or at least semver inspired?
Approaching the next Yosys release. Which numbering scheme should we use going forward? (Last release was Yosys 0.8.)

There have been "incompatible API changes" in every Yosys release ever, so arguably we've never been using semver.

Using semver we would never make releases with a nonzero MINOR or PATCH. I think it's great for a project that has stable APIs. But I don't think it makes sense for Yosys, where we do a release maybe once a year and each release has incompatible API changes.

We should've mysteriously skipped any version with a 9 in it...
