This is ridiculous. Both ways across the Atlantic I was sitting next to a missionary and everyone around me at the airport are talking about which church they belong to. Is there some kind of christian invasion going on?

I would say that the case of babel was not an issue to got the height of the tower, but the arrogance saying: we can do better than god and reach him.
.. which of course (A) can be done by building a large tower 
and (B) is a problem for God because why exactly? 
This idea that there's an omnipotent God with insecurity issues is one of the most bizarre aspects of it all. It would be laughable if it wouldn't be so sad.
