Yea, besides basic logic it seems a lot of muxes, registers, counters, adders are useful. Can you elaborate? Does yosys only support two port ram? What do you mean with stall on collision and what does yosys do? I was thinking 1 port ram + 2:1 mux ~= two port ram

I have in my mind a picture of the Quartus bram, which has an extra flipflop or mux around the ram iirc Maybe a very basic combination of actual chips could perform the correct behaviour?
