I'm old and forgot how to SQL, so instead of re-learning SQL I just fetch and store individual rows and do everything else in Python. Like an animal.

Beware, this is a slippery slope. Next you are going to just skip SQL altogether and iterate over csv rows in a flat file.

Actually the "database" in this project is only a few 100 kB large and I probably would have just used a JSON file, except in this case I need concurrent access with commit and rollback, so SQLite3 it is.
