Anyway I guess my favorite movie last year was Annihilation but Spiderverse was a very close second

I had to stop the movie after the first few minutes and contemplate how much nonsense I was willing to accept in this movie before continue watching. Glad I decided in the end to watch the whole thing.

i will accept nearly unlimited amounts of nonsense in a movie as long as the movie is willing to lean into it

I will accept nearly unlimited amounts of nonsense in a movie as long as there are spaceships. (I even liked The Cloverfield Paradox!) But no spaceships in Annihilation, so I had to make a judgement call. :D
