With bitpattern 1000....000 = NaN pretty please
(this encoding would make sense with sign magnitude and twos compliment, but I was thinking of twos compliment)

Funny you say that, since that is exactly what I'm working on. I have to make costly hardware just to make sure that 1000...000 (-0 in SM) is zero in 2C.
