Reading what people are writing on the Democratic POTUS primary candidates. Both parties really should switch to instant runoff voting (IRV) for their primaries. Using FPTP for the US primaries is just outright stupid. (As demonstrated by Republican 2016 primaries.)

Well, yes. The term "ranked choice" is less exact. IRV is the system referred to as "ranked choice voting" (RCV) by
@fairvote and others in the US. (Technically it's just one of many RCV systems. But you only need to know about the others if you're into voting systems imo. :)1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
... At least for single seat elections. The straight forward extension of IRV to multi seat elections is call single transferable vote (STV), but for some reason @fairvote refers to it as "fair representation voting".
