Very hot take: Like there's a difference between the Moon and a moon, there's a difference between the Planets and a planet. Pluto, Ceres, Vesta, every moon and every other astronomical body that isn't a star _is_a_planet_, regardless of if it's one of the Planets or not.

But since we are still at the beginning of the research of all astronomical bodies, I think we should not already start to restrict ourselves or to specialize. We don't even know enough to make a meaningful classification. See dispute dwarf planet versa moon, this century.
