Why would you do that if you think it's not a good thing & ppl can get what you offer - videos - somewhere better? Here is the reasoning for being on #YT at all: https://events.ccc.de/2015/01/03/the-youtube-and-stream-dump-problem/ … You also do not let users chose to follow you on e.g. #Mastodon, you only offer #Twitter. ;)
(1) I do let users to chose to follow me on Mastadon. (2) I'm not saying they have to let users chose anything. I'm saying my behavior is a rational response to my preferences and circumstances and the way they set their system.
The "don't be a victim to the incentives we set" rhetoric is not helping either. And the implied assumption that an incentive should be ignored by a rational agent if the consequence would be counter to the intent of the incentive is just stupid.
If a system has a broken UX, fix it. Don't blame the user for the brokenness of the system.
