Looking at #privacy issues and the problem of Internet #monopolies the media.ccc-links are much more "useful". It's a question of ethics & values, not only tech. You can either ignore or respect this view, I just wanted to let you know so you can decide for yourself. :)
If the http://media.ccc.de pages would have links to YouTube there would be no privacy issue because nobody would need to click them if they didn't want them. But by making this decision for the users they're incentivising me to share the YouTube links instead.
That's the whole point. They do not let people "decide for themselves". In their attempt to prevent people from using YouTube they create the incentive to share YouTube links instead of http://media.ccc.de links in the first place.
Why would you do that if you think it's not a good thing & ppl can get what you offer - videos - somewhere better? Here is the reasoning for being on #YT at all: https://events.ccc.de/2015/01/03/the-youtube-and-stream-dump-problem/ … You also do not let users chose to follow you on e.g. #Mastodon, you only offer #Twitter. ;)
It's not about "incentives" it's about challenging a certain careless mindset. You are not a victim of "incentives" but a person who can respect a well thought-out reasoning or not. You chose where link to, not them. I happily follow their request, because I see the point. :)
Acting on incentives doesn't make one a "victim of incentives". It makes one a rational agent.
