Hey all you #FPGA masters: what editor do you use for Verilog? Atom and VS Code each have an add-in that is only marginally acceptable for auto-complete, linting, etc. @ico_TC @zipcpu @TinyFPGA @oe1cxw @jangray @esden @fpga_dave @bml_khubbard @OlofKindgren Thanks :)

I also use vi or sublime text. Atom has annoying indentation issues. Heard good things about VS Code...

Same here, but emacs. For IP-XACT stuff such as block design or register maps, I use Kactus2

Plain Vim (+ a few self written scripts) here, too.

nvi ;-)

I think I never actually used nvi much, not even on BSD. I was an elvis user before I switched to vim, and before that I was using joe. But that was ~20 years ago.

I like ed. Append, type my RTL, dot, write, done. Simple. Any problems, the ? diagnostic lights the way.

I grew up with ed!

I had realized after sending this tweet, that I had lobbed a potentially volatile topic on par with religion and politics. I'm glad everyone was so respectful in their responses. Cheers & Happy Holidays.
