Right. And then they just reappear years later and everyone’s forgotten that they are criminals. It has GOT to stop!
Usually the plea agreement in those cases will state that they are barred from ever running for office again. (But of course usually ≠ always.)
Maybe but you can still have a huge influence without running for office. Look at Roger Stone and all the Iran-Contra criminals like Oliver North who’s now running the NRA. These people are extremely dangerous to our country and should be locked up for life.
Political criminals should be barred from politics(running for any office) and any lobbying position for life.
